I gave him a monitor for listening to the MIDI file and started playing the track on loop for him to play along with and match. This was not an easy feat because the loop I created had some inconsistency between the timing of each loop segment restarting. You can highlight two tracks and tell it to analyze and find the similarities, and it will align the two tracks in your editing timeline. Voila! Problem solved. However, it failed in this circumstance. I find that this feature is much more geared towards syncing voices in dialogue, and struggles to sync subtle sounds like the ones I was working with: movements in a space and taps from tap shoes. On production days, I am in a constant state of fight-or-flight as I respond to common issues I have experienced in the past, and I often lose sleep leading up to the shoot.
