About the Film
“A Stranger in the Woods” is a short film that explores the topic of social isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic. It features an original score composed by Stephanie Henry and was shot with a combination of video cameras and video chat software.
Our team is always challenging ourselves to grow through each project. This film features multiple camera types and operators, handmade costuming and innovative storytelling.
While the film itself if not grant-funded, director Wendy Placko is a fiscal year 2021 recipient of a Creative Support for Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
Film Score Fest
This film was made as a part of MNKINO’s Film Score Fest. For this competition, Filmmakers and composers are paired up to create new short films, and the Film Score Fest orchestra performs the scores live at the screening.
